ABOUT

The Ron Reed Phantom Chapter of the New York State Science Honor Society was established to promote science inquiry, research and the love of sciences. In recognition of former Biology Teacher, Mr. Ron Reed, the Cortland Science Honor Society is the cytoplasm of the science wing. We are everywhere and we carry the essential function of assisting the science teachers and students of CHS. Students who are members are enthusiastic about research, participate in science related activities, have demonstrated achievement in science learning, are service-minded, and present excellent personal character. The society promotes: Service in Science, Achievement in Science, Commitment in Science, Exploration of Careers in Science & Technology, Science Enrichment, Enthusiasm for Scholarship, Enthusiasm for Research, Leadership, and Character. Selected members participate in monthly meetings, conduct individual science research, help science faculty as teaching or laboratory assistants, go on science-related field trips, and conduct numerous service and outreach projects throughout the year.
