May 26, BOE Meeting

At the May 26 Cortland Enlarged City School District Board of Education meeting, several students and staff members were recognized for their outstanding contributions to the district and community.

Carly Mendelson and Emily Morse presented a Tiger Paw Award to sixth grade student Natalie Ross for her leadership, kindness and willingness to go above and beyond to support both classmates and teachers.

John Zarcone honored Brandon Prosser and Steve Bellemy with Tiger Paw Awards, recognizing them as unsung heroes of the Junior High School for their dedication and daily support of students and staff.

Kristen Shoemaker recognized Abby Hess with a Tiger Paw Award for her work coordinating with the Smith PTO and local agencies to secure adaptive playground equipment that will help create a more inclusive environment at Smith School.

Superintendent Bob Edwards and Jon Herr presented Tiger Paw Awards and letters of recognition from NASA to Yevhenii Aharkov, Thomas Barnes, Dominick Brown, Crixton Crisologo, Daniel Degouf, Saya Gingrich, Jacob Mones, Andre Myers, Sai Patel, Paige Randall and Alex Sheets for their outstanding work in the NASA HUNCH Program, where the team finished in the top five.

In addition, 12 staff members were granted tenure during the meeting. The Board of Education also approved the final results of the district budget vote along with several other agenda items.
