Candidates Sought for School Board

      The Cortland Enlarged City School District Board of Education would like to encourage residents of the district to run for a position on the Board.  The terms of two members, out of the seven member Board, are up for election at the Budget Vote and Board Member Election to be held on May 19.  The terms would run from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2029.

      Candidates must be able to read and write, must be a citizen of the United States, must be 18 years of age, must be a resident of the district for a continuous and uninterrupted period of one year, may not reside with another member of the same school board, may not be a current employee of the school district, and may not simultaneously hold another incompatible public office.

      For those considering running, please feel free to contact any Board member to find out what is involved in serving.  School Board business / committee meetings are generally held every second and fourth Tuesday of the month. 

      To be on the ballot you must file a petition with 100 signatures of qualified school district voters before 5:00 p.m. on April 29, 2026 at the School District Office.  Petitions can be obtained from Alicia Zupancic, Board Clerk, at the Kaufman Center, 1 Valley View Drive, 607-758-4100 ext. 2202.
