Cortland Board of Education Recognizes Excellence, Reviews Key Reports, Approves New Course

The Cortland Board of Education held its regular business meeting
on January 27, 2026, addressing several important district matters and recognizing an outstanding staff member.

During the meeting, the Board recognized Katerina Fabian with a Tiger Paw Award for being a team player who always provides positive encouragement. She is hardworking, organized, and always helping everything run smoothly. 

The Board also received presentations on three major district reviews: the Cortland Instructional Program Review, the Cortland Fiscal Review, and the Cortland Facilities Study Report. These reports provide valuable insight into the district’s instructional practices, financial health, and long-term facilities planning.

In action items, the Board approved a new course proposal for Maker Space Lab, expanding opportunities for hands-on, innovative learning for students. In addition, the Board accepted the 2024–2025 Extraclassroom Activity Funds Financial Report and Corrective Action Plan, as well as the district’s 2024–2025 Single Audit.
