Distance Learning Cortland

All of our lives have changed in the past weeks. This situation is unprecedented and we are trying to adapt the best we can. Rest assured that everyone in the Cortland Enlarged City School District, like everyone in our community, is completely committed to the well-being of all.

We know that Cortland County declared a state of emergency on March 15, 2020. The District has shifted to distance learning at least until April Break. We are scheduled to return to school after April break (at least for now).

During the time our students are distance learning, we have continued to provide instruction. A portal is on the district webpage where all assignments are communicated -- it will be updated each week by the end of the day each Thursday. Information such as how to contact teachers and other staff such as counselors and school social workers is also on the distance learning portal. We have been enjoying the photos that are sent to us of students working at home and posting them on our social media accounts with the hashtag #DistanceLearningCortland.

Food Service has changed- we are now offering breakfast and lunch pickup from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the following locations throughout the Cortland area: Barry Primary, Smith Intermediate, Randall Middle, JSHS, Parker School, McEvoy Campus, and Virgil School. In addition, we are offering breakfast and lunch pick up in a shorter window from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Penguin Trailer Park and Rickard Street Apartments.

Technology, including Chromebooks, tablets and laptops have been deployed to students that requested one. If you are experiencing any issues with any school issued device, or if you have a question or if something is not working, please email Our IT team has been working hard to ensure they respond to each question. If you are unable to email, you may leave a message at (607) 758-4188.

Overall, we are plugging away and adjusting to this unprecedented situation. We would like to thank our parents, students and staff for their hard work during this time.
