ABOUT

The fine arts are an important part of public education and the Cortland Enlarged City School District is committed to the study of and performance in the visual and performing arts. We are proud of our tradition in the arts and are committed to expanding opportunities, increasing participation, and enhancing the arts across our community.

All of our students participate in art and music education, kindergarten through eighth grade. In high school, students choose their arts path, with many electives in both the visual and performing arts. Performance opportunities abound in the district, and include band, orchestra, choral groups, and modern band. Theatrical opportunities exist in our elementary schools as well as the junior and senior high schools.

Research clearly shows the importance of study and participation in the fine arts. Academics and quality of life are improved through the arts.
