January 2020 Auditorium Project Update
Despite the frigid temperatures outside, work has been continuing on the outside and inside of our new auditorium at the high school. Steady progress is being made -- things are proceeding according to schedule. The auditorium is still on track to be finished by May this year!
Director of Facilities Bob Martin has been working as a liaison between the contractors and the school district. Bob noted that the progress is “right on track. The duct work is being completed by the HVAC contractor. Once that is done, the auditorium will have proper heating, ventilation and air conditioning. The auditorium features custom made acoustical “clouds” that were hung the week of January 6th. The clouds can drastically diminish noisy room environments and reverberations.”
The auditorium is being painted and that work is almost done. Bob Martin said, “the painter has finished the auditorium proper and will be doing the stage and raised rigging section next.”
In addition to the work inside and outside the auditorium, a new foyer or entrance way is being constructed. This area is part of the pre-existing cafeteria area. The tile work in the new entrance corridor will be started soon. A new ticket booth has been framed out and relocated for more use and accessibility.
Superintendent Mike Hoose said, “the hope is that we would like to have a final music concert in the space before school closes in June. The next steps as far as construction goes are the stage rigging, lighting and sound work.”
Please stay tuned to our social media pages for updated pictures of the construction and as always our auditorium website.
