Unified Bowling Wins March SCAC Award
The Cortland Unified Bowling team was the SCAC team of the month for March 2019. Coach Annette McMahon said, “In our first season as a Unified Bowling Team we had five athletes and seven rotating partners. During the two practice games and four matches in our division, each athlete and all of the partners consistently encouraged and motivated each other to be their best. They supported each other, they saw the best in each other and they shared the vision to have an enjoyable bonding season. The team won 15 games out 36, and one match out of 4. The Cortland Team placed 2nd in our division at the culminating match on March 1st at Strike N Spare in Mattydale. This was an amazing experience for all and can’t wait to do it again next winter!”
In 2017, the Salt City Athletic Conference (SCAC) was created to actively promote high school athletics via the educational framework developed by the NYSPHSAA.
The SCAC’s mission is: To teach leadership and the development of character
- To promote the successes of our teams, student-athletes, and coaches
- To provide new opportunities for student-athlete competition
The league recognizes deserving teams for their accomplishments by awarding both an Empire and Metro division “Team of the Month.”
Athletic Director Tim Wagoner said, “I am proud of our team and hope we have just as much fun and success next year. Being awarded the SCAC team of the month for March 2019 is an honor for the Cortland Athletic program!”
The Unified Sports season continues in May with the Unified Basketball team!
