|In Common Writing Assessment
In Common Writing Assessment is a common formative assessment that will help educators and students develop a clearer understanding of effective writing as described in the Standards and provides examples of writing integrated within the curriculum. The student writing samples provided for each grade level have not gone through the writing process.
The opinion and agrument section focuses on CCSS.W.1: "Write arguments to support claims in an analysis of substantive topics or texts using valid reasoning and relevant and sufficient evidence."
The informative writing section focuses on CCSS.W.2: "Write informative/explanatory texts to examine and convey complex ideas and information clearly and accurately through the effective selection, organization, and analysis of content."
The narrative writing section focuses on CCSS.W.3: "Write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective technique, well-chosen details and well-structured event sequences."
