Welcome to Parker Elementary School's Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Website!

Parker's school-wide PBIS initiative helps students to become successful members of our Parker community. Students learn about the behavioral expectations for various areas of our school through positive behavioral supports and interventions. Elements of our universal (school-wide, Tier 1) supports are described below:

Responsive Classroom
Cortland Enlarged City School District utilizes the Responsive Classroom approach to educating our students. This research-based program is designed to improve school climate and to create a safe and responsive environment for all students and staff. Responsive Classroom encourages all members of the Parker community to show the following CARES  values everyday:

Parker School's Behavioral Expectations
When you walk into Parker School, you will find the following behavioral expectations on posters throughout the building, reminding all members of the Parker community of our shared committment to:
  Be Safe
Be Respectful

Be Responsible

Some of our Parker students teamed up with members of Parker School's Healthy Responsive Blue Ribbon Team to create the following videos modeling what these expectations look like in different areas of the school. Take a look!

Blue Ribbon Behavior Tickets

Students earn Blue Ribbon Tickets for demonstrating exemplary behavior aligned with our CARES values. Anytime that a member of our Parker staff sees a student engaging in positive, prosocial behavior, that student may be recognized with a Blue Ribbon Ticket! Tickets are collected according to grade level and used in two ways:

Daily Morning Program Drawings
Parker School begins each day with Morning Program, where all students and staff join together to share announcements, learning and celebration. Blue Ribbon Tickets are drawn and a student is recognized by the school communityfor his/her positive behavior. The student is then given a Blue Ribon sticker to wear!

Blue Ribbon Celebrations
The Parker community celebrates positive and prosocial behavior each quarter. All students and faculty gather in the gymnasium to review and practice assembly expectations, recognize our CARES award recipients, and celebrate our successes as a school community. Students have the opportunity to participate in fun games. Participants are selected from the Blue Ribbon Tickets that have been collected for their respective grade levels. The more tickets you earn, the more chances you have to play!
