Here's
how YOU can get involved!
|
|
Still
sitting on the fence? Why not take a chair....?
Not interested in a chair....? How about a seat......?
By
Cheré (Hicks) DiIorio (‘87), Chair, Nominating
Committee |
A seat on the
board that is! The nominating committee has been working
diligently to fill vacant seats and committee positions
over the last year. We have added four new board members
since our last newsletter: Rachelle Sherman, Bert Bell,
Anne Crupi, and Helen Hart. Along with pursuing new board
members, the nominating committee is also dedicated to finding
alumni interested in sitting on our many committees. Below
are short descriptions of our other committees. Time commitments
vary by committee, with most committees meeting bi-monthly.
- Activities
Committee
The Activities Committee is quite possibly the best way
to get involved. This committee organizes and facilitates
a number of events throughout the year including the Homecoming
Mixer in the Fall and the annual “Calling All Classes”
reunion the third weekend in July. There’s always
something to do and new ideas are always welcome. Interested?
Contact Rachelle Sherman (Chair) at rachelledee@yahoo.com
for more information.
- Budget
and Finance Committee
The Budget and Finance Committee prepares an annual operating
budget, monitors and
implements investment strategies, and acts upon special
requests for funding. For more
information, contact Sue Connelly, (Treasurer) at: sconnelly@cortlandschools.org
- Publications/Publicity
Committee
The Publications/Public Relations Committee is responsible
for keeping CHSAA members
informed of alumni events. This committee designs and
produces the bi-annual newsletter
as well as brochures, pamphlets, flyers, press releases
and more. The CHSAA Web site
is also updated regularly by members of this committee.
For more information contact
either Jeremy Boylan at jboylan@cortlandschools.org
or Terry Mingle at tpm2@cornell.edu
or
tmingle@twcny.rr.com.
- Scholarship
Committee
The Scholarship Committee serves as a liaison to help
interested alumni or classes in donating towards existing
scholarships, creating new scholarships, or considering
gifts to Cortland High School. Our goal is to inspire
and assist with giving opportunities that are meaningful
to our alumni. Contact Linda Contento Schmidt (Chair)
at contento@twcny.rr.com
for additional information.
If you are interested
in any of these committees, or to obtain information on
becoming a board member, feel free to either contact the
person listed above, or contact me directly at: chere.diiorio@verizonwireless.com.
I look forward to speaking to you about the possibilities
you could have within CHSAA. The rewards of life come in
different shapes and sizes and are available to all....CHSAA
could become a very rewarding part of your life. Take
time to explore the possibilities!
