    Nick Kline, President

    Nick Kline was a graduate of the Class of 1997. After leaving CHS, he attended Ithaca College where he received a degree in both business and physical education in 2001. After college, Nick began full-time employment at the Cortland County Family YMCA. He has also pursued a master's degree at SUNY Cortland in special education. Nick loves coaching for his high school alma mater, where he is involved in both the soccer and track & field programs. In the community, Kline serves for a variety of boards in addition to the CHSAA. He is a representative on local soccer associations, serves as VP for the Cortland Housing Assistance Council, sits on the Y Service Club, and volunteers in many other capacities. Nick is looking forward to working with the other board members to promote the CHSAA to fellow alumni.


    Linda Contento Schmidt, Vice President

    Chair, Scholarship Committee

    Linda Contento Schmidt, Class of 1972, is excited to resume her involvement in the CHS Alumni Association. She will serve leadership roles as Vice President of the CHSAA Board of Directors and Chair of the Scholarship Committee. Linda has maintained close ties with CHS throughout the years and also serves on the Class of '72 reunion planning committee and is a founding member and Vice Chair of the Cortland Jr.-Sr. High School Distinguished Alumni Wall of Fame Committee. Linda is also a member of the Cortland Public Education Foundation (CPEF) Board of Directors. Linda's twins, Jada and Cody, are CHS alumni, Class of 2005. Linda's youngest daughter, Tiana, will be a 2009 CHS graduate. Linda and her husband Rick are employed at Cornell University where Linda is Academic Programs Coordinator in the Department of Design and Environmental Analysis. Linda was a part-time student in Cornell University's Employee Degree program from 1996 until May 2007, when she graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication.


    Kay Burns, Treasurer

    A member of the class of 1957, Kay (Wood) Burns does consulting work for ACS (Affiliated Computer Systems) in their Health Care Division. Her current position consists of being outsourced to Motion Picture Hospital in Woodland Hills, CA. Kay mostly works from home, but approximately once per month she travels to the hospital in CA for various projects and meetings. Kay was married to Ron Burns, who passed away in Nov 1997 from cancer. She has one son, three stepsons and one stepdaughter who reside all over the USA, from NJ to CO. Kay also has two grandchildren that are local and she (admittedly) spoils them very badly. She also has nine stepgrandchildren. She has heard the family will soon be extending down another generation to add four great-grandchildren to the roster!


    Terry Mingle, Interim Secretary

    Chair, Publications Committee

    Terry (Patrick) Mingle is a 1983 CHS graduate. As a member of CHSAA, she serves on the Publications Committee (web site design/maintenance, design/assembly of CHSAA publications, and keeper of the alumni database). Terry attended Shenandoah's Advanced Admissions program in Winchester, VA in 1982, but upon graduation from CHS, she transferred to Mansfield University (in PA), earning a bachelor's degree in Music Merchandising (Music/Business/Marketing). Terry is married to Brian Mingle. Her stepson Jeremy is active in the U.S. Army's Infantry Division. Terry is employed full-time with Cornell Lab of Ornithology, and works part-time for Audubon's Seabird Restoration Program (Project Puffin) in Ithaca, NY and Bremen, ME, where she serves as the Assistant to (the Director) Dr. Stephen W. Kress. In her "spare" time she works for Cayuga Radio Group in Ithaca. She is also a member of the local rock band Blue Monday.


    Marian Atkinson

    Marian was a graduate of the CHS Class of 1950 and SUNY Cortland's, Class of 1954. She retired in 1990, after 33 years of teaching in Whitney Point and Homer Schools. She is currently active in several organizations. She assists the American Cancer Society by taking patients to their treatments, has been active in the SUNY Cortland Alumni Association since 1992, she is on the committee for the Class of 1950 reunions - held every 5 years since their graduation, is involved in CHSAA and also participates on the CHS Wall of Fame Committee. In addition to all of that, she is also active in church and volunteers her time for various SUNY Cortland activities. She has a son, Harold, and one grandson, Jeffory.


    Jeremy Boylan (Secretary)

    (On board leave until March 2009)

    Jeremy Boylan is the Secretary of CHSAA, and a member of the class of ’96. Following graduation he attended SUNY Fredonia where he majored in English and played on the varsity baseball team. Jeremy graduated from Fredonia in 2000 and has held a number of jobs in the journalism field. He is currently a reporter for the Cortland Standard and serves as the School Information Officer for the Cortland City School District. He lives in Homer with his wife Erin and son Christopher.


    Amy Buggs

    Chair, Membership Committee

    Amy Buggs was a graduate of the Class of 1988. After leaving CHS, she attended SUNY Cobleskill and SUNY Buffalo where she received degrees in both Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education in 1992. After college, Amy began part-time employment with the Cortland City School District as a Substitute Teacher for 4 years. She then moved into full time employment with Cortland County Employment & Training where she has been for the past 13 years. Amy is very active in the Cortland Community; she is currently the President of Cortland Regional Medical Center’s Hospital Aid, is a current 40Below Cortland Advisory Board Member and new to the CHSAA Board. Amy worked on the Activities Committee with Rachelle this summer planning the All School Reunion. Amy is looking forward to working with the other board members and CHSAA members to promote CHSAA to fellow alumni.


    Shirley Calabro

    Shirley (Nichols) Calabro graduated from Cortland High School in 1957.

    Sue Connelly

    Sue Connelly graduated from Cortland High School in 1975. She attended SUNY Oswego to complete her bachelor's degree in education and then went on to complete her master's degree at Marshall University. Sue is presently employed with the Cortland City School District as an 8th Grade Special Education teacher at CHS. She is married to Stan, and they have 2 children, Nathan and Nicholas. In her spare time, Sue enjoys skiing, reading, and walking.


    Cheré DiIorio
    Chair, Nominating Committee

    Cheré DiIorio graduated from Cortland High School in 1987. As a board member in CHSAA, she chairs the Nominating Committee and is involved in the Scholarship and Activities Committees. Cheré lives in Cortland with her sons Dustan (CHS '06), Austan (CHS '11), and Eustan (CHS'15). She has been active as the president of the Randall Elementary School PTO since 2002 and is an active member of the CHS Athletic Booster Club. She is currently attending American Intercontinental University Online (AIU) and has been employed with Verizon Wireless since 1997.


    Sheli Farron


    Chair, Advertising Committee

    Sheli Farron was a graduate of the Class of 1983. Her son Michael graduated in 2003. She has been employed as the House Manager of the (Riverside) Cortland Friendly's Restaurant since 1995. Sheli also serves as Water Board Commissioner, Democratic Committee Member, and Elections Inspector. She has two beautiful grandsons, Devin and Aidan.


    Helen Hart

    Helen R. (Graham) Hart graduated from Cortland High School, and married Earl Hart, in 1942. She has three children (two boys and one girl) six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She is involved in many community groups, such as the King's Daughters, the CHS Alumni Wall of Fame Committee, the Board of Trustees for the Cortland Cemetery, is a volunteer for the Cortland County Four Score Club, a member of the Quilt Club, and also Church Women United (who organize church fundraisers at the church on the 1st Sunday of every month). Her hobbies include knitting, golfing, and bowling.


    Rachelle Sherman

    Chair, Activities Committee

    Rachelle Sherman graduated from Cortland High School in 1988. She went on to attend college at Niagara University, and received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Hotel/Restautant Management in 1992. Rachelle has worked for the past 15 years in the hotel/food and beverage field, and is currently employed as Director of Sales at the Holiday Inn Cortland. In her spare time, she owns and operates a Mary Kay Cosmetics business. Rachelle is mom to Stephen Sherman II, who will be going to Cortland Jr.-Sr. High School beginning with the 2006-2007 school year.


    Dr. John Lutz, Ex-Officio Member

    Dr. Lutz came to the Cortland City School District in June, 2000, from the Alexander Central School District in Genesee County where he had served as superintendent for almost ten years. Prior to his appointment in Alexander, he had served seven and a half years as Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction in the Oneonta City School District. Other experiences include work as administrator of Hartwick College's environmental center, research associate at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf, assistant executive director of a Pennsylvania Intermediate Unit, and teacher at SUNY Oswego's Campus School and in the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Central School District. Dr. Lutz earned Bachelor's and Master's degrees at Cornell University and has a Ph.D. from Penn State. He and his wife, Una, have three married children and two grandchildren.     Steven Woodard, Ex-Officio Member

    Steve was formerly employed at CHS as the Executive Principal of Cortland Jr. Sr. High School.
