LMC CONDUCT
The Library Media Center (LMC) is a quiet study area, and students are welcome for reference, research, class assignments, literature, enjoyment, and computer use. The LMC is open from 7:25 AM to 3:25 PM. Students may come to the LMC from study halls. Students assume certain obligations and responsibilities when they use the LMC. The following will be enforced:
- Inappropriate behavior, i.e., unnecessary talking, wandering, distracting other patrons, will first result in a warning to the student; if the inappropriate behavior continues, the student will be given a pass back to study hall. That student will not be allowed in the library for the rest of day and the following day. If the student has the studyhall every other day, the student will not be allowed in the library for the rest of the day and the next day that he/she has that studyhall.
- The second time a student is asked to return to study hall, (s)he may not come to the LMC for a two-week period.
- If a student’s behavior requires a third return to study hall, (s)he will be asked not to return to the LMC for 5 weeks, and a referral will be sent to the principal; the student may then use the LMC only when attending with a class or to get a book.
- A referral will be written at any time student behavior creates the necessity.
LMC SEATING
- To provide a comfortable learning environment, students may sit two to a table.
- Students should request the use of the cooperative table if they need to work together in a group no greater than 3 students.
- The conference room may be used by student groups/committees with an advisor’s pass.
- If there is limited seating due to class use of the LMC, study hall sign-in will be on a first-come-first-serve basis. Students with pre-signed passes from teachers will be given priority.
SIGNING OUT OF THE LMC
- Students need to have a pass, and are allowed one sign-out per period.
- Up to five students at a time may sign out of the LMC to go to the restroom or lockers or elsewhere.
- Students are expected to return within five minutes to the LMC.
- Students are responsible to go where they sign out to.
- Abuse of these privileges will result in the loss of sign-out privileges for five school days.
USING LMC MATERIALS
- Students should use their ID cards when signing out LMC materials.
- Reference materials may be signed out overnight, with return before 1st period the next day so that all patrons will have access to them during the school day.
- Students who have overdue materials may lose their LMC privileges; lost, stolen, or damaged materials must be paid for by the borrower (money will be refunded if the material is later found).
- Patrons may request current periodicals (magazines and newspapers) at the circulation desk; please be prepared to leave your ID card at the desk while using these periodicals.
- The copy machine requires $.10 per page.
