about the band

The Cortland High School Band Program, currently under the direction of Richard B. Eleck, Jr., has enjoyed a rich history of success over the past 70 years. The program involves over 100 students in its various organizations. They include a Concert Band, Jazz Band, Parade Band and Pep Band.

The Concert Band has consistently received a Gold Rating at the New York State School Music Association Spring Major Organization Festival including their most recent rating of Gold With Distinction (Level VI). The band has also won honors throughout New York State as well as nationally at various festivals. The Concert and Jazz Bands recently traveled to Richmond, Virginia where they captured 1^st place (Superior Rating) trophies at the Music in the Parks Festival held at Kings Dominion.
